

A monolith with a commemorative plaque in homage to Sevillano’s father, the journalist and writer Ángel Sevillano García, has recently been inaugurated in the municipality of San Cristovo de Cea, Galicia. Who was very loved and remembered in his mother’s homeland, and to which he dedicated one of his publications: a book entitled «Historias do Canizo».
From these, his writings in Historias do Canizo, a fragment has been extracted that alludes to the springs of the region, and reads: «É a auga manatía que ven da Serra Martiña, e ten un gusto e un frescor como non se topa outro semellante en toda a provincia»… In English: «It is the spring water that comes from the Sierra de Martiña, and it has an unparalleled flavor and freshness as found throughout the province».


Noted writer and poet, during his lifetime he published six books between 1935 and 1988: «O Muíño Albeiro» (The White Mill), «O Amor, o Mar, o Vento e outros Gozos» (The Love, the Sea, the Wind and other Joys), «Terra Liñar» (Linen Land), «As Dornas da Preguiza» (The Dornas of Heartburn), «Historias do Canizo» (Tales of Canizo) y «Doutor Famiano» (Doctor Famiano).

Ángel Sevillano father was director of the magazines Grial and Anuario de Vigo, as well as editor-in-chief of the newspaper El Pueblo Gallego. Those who knew him remember him with great appreciation for being a great person, affable, kind and with a great sense of humor.
